Puerto Rican filmmaker Juan C. Linares is known for his darkly comedic, character-driven narratives that explore the space between comedy and tragedy. His films, such as Warren? and Dandy, focus on human relationships and cultural identity, blending dark humor with poignant storytelling. His work has earned recognition in Puerto Rico, New York, and Chicago. At the moment, Juan is set to direct A Night at Moonlight for Hirsch Giovanni Productions.
As a producer, Juan’s short film The Return of Ernesto Pagán earned special recognition at Cinefiesta in 2018, and he co-produced a short documentary on the history and legacy of Chicago's Little Village neighborhood for Scalawag Productions. His directorial feature debut, Parkside, premiered at the Puerto Rico Film Festival in 2024 to critical acclaim and is currently seeking distribution.
When not behind the camera, he enjoys coffee, delightfully cheesy B-movies, and spending time with his cats.
